Babushkas and Attitude...Ukraine

First things first…Ukraine….the women usually look like men and nobody smiles.

We spent the day walking around the town of Odessa, Ukraine. The shopping was horrible so we ditched it for more artistic ventures. We found an outdoor market in front of a church that had paintings and knick-knacks, and a carnival, lots of stray dogs, a 7 story mall, and the opera house.

There were lots of men with lizards, chinchillas, snakes, and monkeys that you could take your picture with but the snakes scared me so we didn’t get close. Nothing really exciting happened just couldn’t get over how rude people were. Not friendly like Istanbul. We would wave and smile and greet them and got NOTHING in return, not even an acknowledgement that we said anything. RUDE. Also, the hair colors and styles are atrocious. Orangey reds and purples are a NO NO…anybody knows that. Also, the mullet died and whatever kind of mullet they have here should be burned. Its like if you went to a salon and asked for a fashion mullet and they used a pair of bent, rusty, 3 foot garden shears. It hurt to even look at.

I’m gonna go ahead and post about Sevastopol, Ukraine as well. We walked around on May 7, 2007 and all I can say is is that it was boring. Lots of military and police, more bad hair, and more bad attitudes. Not really much of anything to do, didn’t even take a picture. There were city wide speakers though and that is really creepy. They would blast some song or chant or speech or something over the speakers and the whole city can hear it. It was really really scary for some reason. The Russian Sickle and Hammer symbol was everywhere and I felt like I was somewhere else. Old old old cars and busses, old clothes, its kinda what I imagined it to look like back in the day of WWII etc.

Ok, I’m done with the Ukraine. See you all in Cyprus. LOVE YOU
